SCV RESEARCH PROJECT
1. Virtual Reality Environment Research
Research in Virtual Reality Environment conducted issues on 3D scene management to reduce cost computation, crowd simulation, establishing Avatar emotional expression through facial, body posture, expression and vibration tactile.
2. Diving Simulator Research
Diving Simulators are used to conduct research in road safety and provide the opportunity to investigate and evaluate the skills of various road safety and road users (e.g. drivers, motorcyclists, and pedestrians) within a safe environment, and utilise an experimental design that is repeatable and easily adaptable such as the ability to quickly alter driving scenarios and expose drivers to hazardous situations in a systematic way.
3. Collision Detection Research
Research in real-time collision detection for virtual environment, game development and interactive simulation.
4. Mixed / Augmented Reality Environment
Augmented Reality (AR) attempts to enrich a user’s real environment by combining 2D or 3D elements. The goal is to create the impression that the virtual objects are part of the real environment. The users of the AR system experience the augmented environment through special display devices, which are either worn on the body or are placed in the working environment.
5. Image Processing & Pattern Recognition
Research on image processing and pattern recognition, current research project is in enhancing our fingerprint project. Several issues come out to be solved by group of researchers.
Fingerprint pattern are rarely perfect. Various types of noise may corrupt them. Therefore, an effective method of enhancing fingerprint images needs to be implemented to facilitate matching and identification. The main goal of this project is to improve the quality of degraded fingerprint images to facilitate matching.
